Spring has sprung, and Summer vacation is right around the corner for area students. JPS middle school students are “Just Raring to Read.” It’s a Caring for Mississippi event that collects books for the children.
The LeFleur’s Bluff chapter of The Links and other organizations held a book drive to ensure each child has their own required reading material. Saturday, volunteers, including our own Erin Pickens were at 11 local McDonalds restaurants throughout the Capital City taking donations and collecting books.
The students are required to read this summer to prepare for the school year next fall.
“We have to realize that our school system is in trouble and we need all of your help in order to help the school system,” says Danita Joyner from McDonalds.
If you want to donate, money is being accepted at any Bank Plus location.
